A unique retreat involving quiet and reflective Christian worship, biblical teaching and guided walks looking at the rich birdlife of Spain in late autumn. We can expect to see an impressive range of over-wintering birds including some rarely seen in Britain like the Black Wheatear, Booted Eagle, Crested Lark, Flamingo, Glossy Ibis, Hoopoe and Sardinian Warbler. Our programme will be full yet relaxed with plenty of opportunity for personal space and time alone with God.

Since 2004 Mark has helped others to look at birds on his Even Sparrows retreats on Holy Island, and he continues to marvel how birds teach us about God’s love.
His book, “Look at the Birds of the Air” brings to life the role of birds in the Bible. He explores their importance and significance to individuals like Noah, Moses and Elijah and particularly Jesus.
Who is the programme for?
Clearly it will suit you if you have an interest in the outdoors and birds in particular, but you do not need to be able to describe yourself as an ‘expert’ or ‘enthusiast’. Mark will be able to assist you in tips and techniques in recognition and the background that you need to enjoy the programme. The places we visit will be local natural areas of beauty, and there will be space and time free, so it is also ideal for a couple, even if only one has an interest. It would help to be able to walk short distances on easy terrain, but please contact us if you have specific access requirements, and we will advise on suitability.
